Stephanie Fadous, Death: Toronto Chief Actuary Has Passed Away

Manulife is mourning the sudden passing of Stephanie Fadous, the company’s Chief Actuary, whose career spanned more than two decades and included significant leadership roles across the organization. Manulife announced her death on September 21, 2026, expressing deep sadness and extending condolences to her family and friends.  Fadous was appointed Chief Actuary in May 2025 after previously serving as Manulife’s Global Treasurer and Head of Capital Management. In that role, she became a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team and reported to senior leadership.

Throughout her career at Manulife, Fadous held a range of positions spanning global finance, group actuarial work, corporate development, and asset-liability management. She also played an important role in the company’s global implementation of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 accounting standards. Her experience included developing and executing global funding programs and managing relationships with rating agencies and financial institutions.

In recognition of her contribution, flags at Manulife’s global headquarters in Toronto will be flown at half-mast. The company said details concerning succession arrangements would be announced at an appropriate time. Stephanie Fadous leaves behind a substantial professional legacy built through years of service, leadership, and expertise. Her colleagues, family, and friends are now mourning her loss and remembering the contribution she made to the Manulife community.
